Child & Family Therapy

What Is Child & Family Therapy?

Child and family therapy provides a safe, supportive space to strengthen family relationships, improve communication, and help children and teens thrive. Whether your child is struggling with anxiety, OCD, behavioral issues, or big life changes, therapy can bring clarity and tools for both children and parents.

This format is ideal if you want to:

  • Support your child’s mental health. Give them tools to manage stress, fears, or challenging behaviors.

  • Strengthen family bonds. Improve communication, reduce conflict, and build trust.

  • Navigate life’s challenges together. Whether it’s divorce, trauma, or school-related struggles, therapy helps families feel more connected and resilient.

Why Choose Child & Family Therapy?

Parenting can feel overwhelming, especially when your child is experiencing anxiety, intrusive thoughts, or behavioral challenges. Family therapy creates a collaborative space where children, parents, and caregivers can learn new ways of relating and problem-solving.

Together, we’ll work on:

  • Helping your child reduce anxiety, fears, or OCD symptoms.

  • Teaching parents tools to respond calmly and effectively.

  • Building stronger parent–child communication.

  • Reducing conflict and improving emotional connection within the family.

The Therapist

I’m Elaine Luna, LMFT, a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with specialized training in child and family therapy. I use evidence-based approaches like Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT), Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), and Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) to support children and their families.

I provide therapy in English and Spanish, ensuring every family feels understood, welcomed, and supported.

What to Expect

During sessions:
We’ll meet with your child individually and/or as a family, depending on what best fits their needs. Sessions may include learning coping tools, practicing parent–child interaction strategies, or creating structured steps to address anxiety or behavioral issues.

For parents:
You’ll receive coaching and guidance on how to support your child at home—because family healing happens both in and outside of therapy.

Over time:
With consistent support, children gain confidence, parents feel more equipped, and families experience more connection and less conflict.
